Description
Between offices, major roads and the Biltse Grift lies an eight-hectare nature park with remarkable tranquillity and landscape variety.
History
Utrecht municipality created the park in the former Johannapolder in the winter of 1975-76. A citizens' campaign later led to its management foundation in 1990.
Nature & Design
Paths, flower meadows, native garden, wildlife field, water-lily pond, ditches, islands and apiary are managed ecologically by volunteers.
Visitor Information
The park is free daily. Dogs must be kept on a lead and visitors are asked to stay on the paths.
Fun Facts
Hay is sometimes collected with horse and cart, and special habitats include a breeding heap for grass snakes.
