Description

Between offices, major roads and the Biltse Grift lies an eight-hectare nature park with remarkable tranquillity and landscape variety.

History

Utrecht municipality created the park in the former Johannapolder in the winter of 1975-76. A citizens' campaign later led to its management foundation in 1990.

Nature & Design

Paths, flower meadows, native garden, wildlife field, water-lily pond, ditches, islands and apiary are managed ecologically by volunteers.

Visitor Information

The park is free daily. Dogs must be kept on a lead and visitors are asked to stay on the paths.

Hay is sometimes collected with horse and cart, and special habitats include a breeding heap for grass snakes.
