IVN-Bijentuin Nunspeet

Description

In a wooded part of Nunspeet lies the IVN Bee Garden, combining a wild-plant garden, beekeeping site and educational meeting place. It demonstrates which flowers and herbs bees and other pollinators need throughout the seasons.

History

The IVN Imkershoeve is shared by IVN Noordwest-Veluwe, the Nunspeter Beekeepers' Association and the garden group. Volunteers maintain the planting, explain the site and welcome school classes and groups.

Nature & layout

Native plants, culinary and medicinal herbs and a heath section create a long feeding season for pollinators. Beehives and the beekeepers' building also reveal the life and care of honeybees.

Visitor information

The garden is free to visit from sunrise to sunset. From February through November volunteers attend on Monday 9.30-noon and Friday 1.30-4 p.m. Park on Eperweg, as motor vehicles cannot use Zandenboslaan.

Did you know?

Special openings in the building provide shelter for bees even in winter. The site therefore brings food plants, nesting opportunities and practical beekeeping together in one garden.
