Description
Behind the D'n Nieuwe Hof nature education centre lies the native garden of IVN Valkenswaard-Waalre. Plants of the Brabant Kempen region take centre stage, supporting courses, walks and children's activities.
History
The garden followed the construction of the education centre by volunteers. With the approval and assistance of the municipality of Valkenswaard, land behind the building was planted with regional species.
Nature & layout
Flower-rich beds, shrubs and small natural features provide food and shelter for insects and other garden wildlife. The layout connects with the neighbouring De Kleine Meer experience park.
Visitor information
The garden behind the building is free and openly accessible. The centre itself has separate opening hours; a visit can be combined with a walk in the nearby nature area.
Did you know?
The garden volunteers usually work every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon. D'n Nieuwe Hof also houses a documentation centre with hundreds of books about nature and the environment.
