Description
This 0.8-hectare garden in Rotterdam South shows how nature and cultivated landscapes once met around the city.
History
The municipality created it in 1977 and 1978 on a former tram depot, aiming to display the original flora and landscapes of the Rotterdam region.
Nature & Design
A willow coppice with artificial tides, river dyke, grasslands, fields, scrub and deciduous woodland sit close together. Indicator plants guide ecological management.
Visitor Information
The garden is free on weekdays and selected Sundays. Dogs are not allowed.
Fun Facts
The artificial tide in the willow coppice demonstrates, within the city, how water shaped the traditional river landscape.
