Description
In de Struiken is an elongated native-plant garden beside Brunssummerheide. Water is its defining feature: the Venbeek rises in a spring pond and flows through the grounds.
History
Former miners helped create the garden after the mine closures. Part of an eighteenth-century timber-framed house was rebuilt and opened in 1976, regarded as the garden's founding year.
Nature & layout
Streams, ponds, hedges, pollard willows, herb and vegetable plots and a traditional flower garden create varied habitats.
Visitor information
Admission is free on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 09:00 to 13:00. Additional Monday and Sunday openings apply in summer.
