Description
The Jeroen Bosch Garden is a hidden green place in the centre of 's-Hertogenbosch. Between buildings, church and former monastery remains lies a quiet city garden, maintained by volunteers and referring to the visual world of Hieronymus Bosch.
History
The garden occupies the site of the former monastery garden of the Redemptorist Fathers, who lived here from 1855 to 1971. The nearby Saint Joseph Church and parts of the monastery complex recall that period. Volunteers have maintained the garden since 2011.
Nature & Design
The design combines planting, paths and artistic references. Wall paintings and details connect the garden with the famous painter from Den Bosch. Its main value is as an urban oasis: enclosed, central and layered with history.
Visitor Information
The garden is usually freely accessible daily, roughly from 08:00 to 19:00 and in winter until sunset. Since opening times can change, checking current information is recommended.
Good to Know
The garden is easy to miss among the inner-city buildings and combines monastery history, art and quietness in a busy historic centre.
