Description
Between Schaloen Castle, its watermill and the River Geul lies a 1.5-hectare garden presenting the South Limburg landscape in compact form.
History
A. Lemmerling designed the garden, which was laid out in the early 1970s and opened to visitors in 1976.
Nature & Design
Around twenty natural and cultural elements include calcareous grassland, fields, hedges, water, herbs and traditional crops. Hundreds of wild plant species grow here.
Visitor Information
The garden is mainly open on Sundays during the season and is maintained by volunteers. Check current dates before travelling.
Fun Facts
Its setting beside castle, mill and river makes the garden a miniature summary of the historic Geul valley.
