Description
Landgoed Schothorst contains several gardens for nature and sustainability education around Het Groene Huis.
History
The educational gardens officially opened in May 1987. The present Groene Huis opened in 2016 as successor to the former nature and environmental education centre.
Nature & Design
Vegetation from the Utrechtse Heuvelrug, Gelderse Vallei and Eempolder sits beside spring flowers, insect garden, apiary, vegetable plots, soft fruit and a reconstructed medieval farmstead.
Visitor Information
The gardens are free daily. The visitor centre and Medieval Farm have separate opening hours.
Fun Facts
Old crops such as spelt, parsnips and field beans are grown on the medieval farm's fields.
