Description
Heempark Tenellaplas is a three-hectare botanical dune landscape surrounding a pond near Rockanje.
History
Pioneer native-garden designer Cees Sipkes began an educational planting here in 1948, building on his work with wild plants and Thijsse's Hof.
Nature & Design
Water and marsh vegetation, wet dune slacks, dry dunes, woodland, spring-flower habitat, orchard and flower meadows hold much of the Dutch dune flora.
Visitor Information
The park is accessible during daylight; first-time visitors are asked to report at the visitor centre. Dogs are not permitted.
Fun Facts
Its name refers to bog pimpernel, Anagallis tenella, which unexpectedly appeared here in large numbers.
