Description
Heemtuin De Boschhook lies in the Steinerbos beside IVN Stein's nature and education centre. The garden presents plants native to Stein and the surrounding region and serves as a green outdoor classroom in the woodland.
History
The garden occupies the former open-air theatre of the Steinerbos. IVN Stein uses De Boschhook as a base for nature education, guided walks and activities in the wider area.
Nature & layout
Management is nature-friendly. Its sheltered setting, native vegetation and dead wood provide habitat for insects, birds and fungi; a 2025 survey recorded 76 fungal species in the garden section.
Visitor information
Visitors are welcome on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 10:00 to 13:00. Enter the Steinerbos from Mauritsweg and follow the signs to De Boschhook.
Did you know?
The garden stands in a former theatre, so local nature and cultural history share the same site. De Boschhook is also the name of IVN Stein's nature and education centre.
