Description
This native-plant garden lies in the Windraak-Hondskerk recreation area and presents plant communities from several Dutch landscapes.
History
IVN Munstergeleen began work in March 1972 on a neglected orchard of about 0.45 hectares. Its educational design follows the native-garden ideas of Jac. P. Thijsse.
Nature & layout
Deciduous woodland, heath, pond, roadside vegetation and a chalk slope are represented from north to south. The relief and lime-rich sections reflect South Limburg.
Visitor information
The garden opens on Monday mornings, with additional Saturday and Sunday hours from March through September. Admission is free and access is on foot or bicycle.
