Description
Veermans Hof IJsselflora is a traditional native-plant garden devoted to the flora of the IJssel region. A dike slope, ditch bank, river dune, woodland and arable plot each display their own plant community.
History
Jan Veerman created the garden in 1971 when characteristic IJssel plants were threatened by dike improvements. IVN Olst-Wijhe has managed it since 1991.
Nature & layout
More than three hundred wild plant species grow here, including meadow sage, rampion bellflower, reflexed stonecrop, bistort and traditional arable herbs. Plants are labelled during the growing season.
Visitor information
The garden is freely accessible throughout the year between sunrise and sunset. Group tours can be arranged.
