Description
The 2.5-hectare Hortus Zelandiae presents the characteristic landscapes of Zeeland in miniature.
History
It belongs to Terra Maris, the museum of nature and landscape housed in the former orangery of Westhove Castle.
Nature & Design
Dunes, a remnant creek, farm garden, insect wall and a section of sea dyke support characteristic plants, birds, butterflies and dragonflies.
Visitor Information
The landscape garden is part of the museum visit. Children can investigate pond life and climb the reconstructed motte castle on the historic mound.
Fun Facts
Around thirty bird species breed here each year, while many more migratory birds are recorded outside the breeding season.
