Description
In Oudegein park, Natuurkwartier combines a nature garden, environmental education and local cultural history.
History
The site links the Environmental Education Centre with IJsselstee children's farm, Museum Warsenhoeck and a historic polder windmill.
Nature & Design
Visitors find herbs and perennials, orchard, hedges, ponds, flower-rich grassland, an apiary, butterfly meadow, barefoot trail and natural play areas.
Visitor Information
The grounds are free Tuesday through Sunday. The museum and windmill have more limited opening times.
Fun Facts
Although surrounded by modern Nieuwegein, the site also preserves stories of Jutphaas, Vreeswijk and the medieval settlement of Gein.
