Natuurtuin Wilhelminapark

Description

On the edge of Wilhelminapark lies a nature garden where biodiversity, outdoor education and quiet walking come together. A large volunteer group maintains the grounds and records its plants and animals.

History

Stichting Natuurtuin Wilhelminapark manages the garden with more than thirty volunteers. Years of small-scale maintenance have created a varied site focused on experiencing and learning about nature.

Nature & layout

Flower-rich areas, water and scrub provide a range of habitats. A bee house was added in 2018 using reused horticultural glass and solar panels; the surrounding bee garden flowers from spring into October.

Visitor information

The garden is free to visit from sunrise to sunset. Stay on the paths and be considerate of volunteer work, wildlife surveys and educational activities.

Did you know?

Species lists on the website are based on surveys carried out in the garden. The site is therefore not only a place to visit, but also somewhere changes in local wildlife are monitored.
